Giveaway Starts Today!

30 Days, 95 Followers and 232 Comments ago... I published my first post, on my first blog, Scrapping With Sherry.

To Celebrate I am having a Giveaway!

When I started this journey I had no idea what I was doing or how much I would love it. I have met some awesome, talented woman and have begun to develop friendships that I did not know where possible over the internet. Blogging has prompted me to take a look at certain areas of my life that needed attention. I have found new interests and old ones have been reborn. In 30 short days I have started to reinvent myself. I am a friend and a mentor to woman who share the same passions that I do. I am a blessed and thankful child of God. I am a happier, more enthusiastic and creative artist. I contribute all of this to blogging and you...

So lets get this celebration started by taking a peek at what one lucky winner will receive...

Would you like to see some close-ups?

I tossed around a few ideas for the giveaway. I finally decided to put together a few of my newest favorite craft items... and a few of the old.

And of course I had to throw in some truffles and a candle for those late night crafting sessions.

I hope the lucky winner likes Tim Holtz!

Getting your name entered into the drawing is easy and you can enter up to two times!

To get your name entered once into the drawing simply tell me what the title is of your favorite craft book, the author and why it is your favorite in the comment section following this post before Monday, August 9th at midnight.

If you do not have a favorite craft book than you may list any other type of book. However please list at least one book, author and why.... Thank You!

Want another chance to win these great prizes?   Mention Scrapping With Sherry and my giveaway with a link on your blog and tell me where to find it by leaving a seperate message in the comments section following this post before Monday, August 9th at midight.

The winner will be determined using Random.org after midnight on August 9th. I will post the winner here on August 10th.

A big Thank You goes out to everyone who is helping me celebrate my first 30 days in blogland... It's been an amazing experience and I can't wait to see what the next 30 days will hold!

Good Luck to Everyone!!!

Until Next Time...Take Care!

  1. Wow, Sherry, congratulations - I'm happy you are doing so well - your success is much deserved! You have a beautiful blog that I enjoy reading every time I visit!

Thanks for offering such a wonderful giveaway! It is hard to choose just one book as my fave, but I am reading a wonderful book right now called True Colors: A Palette of Collaberative Art Journals (Somerset Studio Publications) that I am enjoying tremendously and that I plan to write about one of these days at Create With Joy!

  3. Congratulations! What an awesome give away. I don't really know about any good craft books, don't have them as I can't buy such where I live and neither do our Libraries carry them. Sometimes I order a magazine from abroad.

  5. Sherry,

I am so happy for you and the success of your blog. I have to agree 100% that blogging is such a wonderful way to meet new and interesting people who share common intrests, goals, and ideas. I have met many amazing people through blogging and have enjoyed every minute of it!

And this was a hard choice for me to make as to which book is my favorite, I have lots that I reference and use often. I finally narrowed it down..."Outstanding Mini Albums" by Jessica Acs. This is just one of my mini album books but this one has taught me so much more than the others. The ideas are fresh and inventive. It has so many ideas on so many different types of books to make that I feel like I find something new every time I look at it.

Thanks for having this giveaway. What FANTASTICAL items your giving. I'll have to keep my fingers crossed :)

    Have a great day!
    Smiles!

  11. Hi there. I cannot believe how quickly everyone is Blogland has found you! Congratulations!

Well, I hope this counts as a craft "book". Because just about any Somerset magazine is a treasure I will never part with. I love the Somerset Memories series for any type of paper work, and Where Women Create ~ Editor in Chief Jo Packham, whom I had the great pleasure of spending a wonderful long weekend with in Savannah, is fabulous. So many ideas for studios.
Love Somerset Sew . . . Life . . . Love. All of them! It's so nice, at any time I can just open a page and become inspired all over again. Jenny Doh is outstanding! I think anything she is involved with is just amazing.
And now they are coming out with Where Women Cook. I cannot wait!
    Congratulations again!
    Have a great weekend!

So, my fav at this moment is...

(okay, you caught me, it's not actually a crafting book per say, but it is 0h-so-lovely and always over the top inspiring!!)

  15. Wow! You go girl! Your blog is delightful so it's no wonder you are doing well. Happy to be a follower of yours.
Sorry given my tight budget and limited space, I buy craft supplies rather then craft books. There are so many wonderful & inspiring blogs and amazing tutorials on the internet I don't feel the need for them.
I love T!m Holtz! Thanks for the chance to win this amazing candy.

  16. So excited! Honestly, when we moved from PA we had to be very selective with what we packed and brought with us. I worked at a school for girls in the justice system, and I taught them how to make all sorts of things from cards to book marks to pop-up-books. They loved it and it was a great way to bond with them and give them a break from English and History (which I taught). So, when we moved, I donated all of my craft stuff, including the few craft books that I had to them so they could continue to do positive activities after school. I currently don't have a favorite craft book. But, if my memory serves me right, I alsways enjoyed reading my mom's Aleene's Creative Living books when I was younger. Some of that stuff seems tacky now, but at the time I thought it was the craft bible.

Sorry, I wrote a lot! But, I'd love a chance to win this great give-a-way to help me re-stock my short craft supply! Thank you so much!

  21. I love all different types of craft books, so I do not think that I am able to pick one out of my vast collection. I read a lot of books from medical mysteries to children's literature books. Right now, I am in school full time to become an elementary school teacher, so I am reading a lot of children's literature books. I find children's literature very interesting and enjoyable. I love authors like Shel Silverstein, Judith Viorst, Kevin Henkes, Dr. Seuss, and Laura Numeroff. I love the way they write with passion and creativity in their books for kids. If I have to pick my favorite book, it might be a book by Shel Silverstein called The Giving Tree. It describes a relationship between a boy and a tree. The tree willingly gives the boy everything he asks for to make him happy. One day, the boy, now an old man, discovers one thing that made him happy was his tree and the comfort it provided. Now the tree is only a stump.

  22. Hi Sherry! Wow, what a giveaway! Definitely count me in! Since I am relatively new to paper crafting, I don't have any of those kinds of books. But since I like working with pressed flowers, here's a book I have and like: Pressed Flowers: Creating and Styling by Joanna Sheen. What I like best about this book are the pictures- there are LOTS of them, and being the very visual thinker that I am, I understand things so much better when I can see a picture of them.

I also did a blurb on your giveaway on my blog- http://bgardencreations.blogspot.com . Plus, I already had you linked on my sidebar!

  52. Wow, Sherry, I had no idea you'd only been blogging for 31 days! That's quite a list of achievements in that time. I've just popped in to check my email etc, I've been busy gardening and planting today so no time to put up a blog link but I will tell you about an author I really like.... his name is Beverly Nichols and he wrote the most amazing books about gardening. They weren't dry and text book like, and you won't learn any fancy latin names or when to plant daffodil bulbs, instead you will delight in his gardens in the same way as he does, you'll laugh at his eccentricities, be as amazed as he is when something blooms and curse his nosy neighbours with him! His first set of 3 books were written in the 1920's and chronicle the making of his first garden, the second book is about the renovations of his cottage and the third is about the village. I've just started on the second set of three in a new house, a small mansion really! They're a beautiful read, of the kind of book that's sadly lacking now, and of a way of life long gone.

    Hugs

I don't have a favourite craft book but I do enjoy reading the Paper Crafts magazine. I love getting my ideas from all over the net because there are so many fabulous techniques and different products you can learn about. If a magazine doesn't count, Charlie and the Chocolate factory would have to be my favourite book because it was fun and my dream to visit a chocolate factory lol. When I did get to visit one, it was nothing like the one in the book. I was really disappointed lol. Thanks =)

My favorite craft book is "Exploring the Latest Trends in Mixed Media Arts" by Cynthia Powell, Sherre Hulbert, Lesley Venable and Elizabeth Dawson. The subtitle is projects and techniques. And that is my reason for choosing this as my favorite. It has fascinating projects and techniques that are not difficult to do. Each one has a list of the required materials to make the art piece. 66. Sherry, Lovely site. Glad you have been so successful in such a short time.

I did a lot of crafting over the years but got too busy to do much the last 8 to 10 years. I lost my job a few months ago and am working on getting all those projects that piled up done. I am going to turn a storeroom we have into a craft room. My craft supplies are currently scattered in every room of the house. I have some kitchen cabinets and counters from a remodeling project that I'll put in. I have at least one full bookcase of craft books, but right now, no favorites. It will be nice to have a space to work and leave out projects. I am looking forward to getting back into all the fun things I used to do, plus some new ones I've come interested in.

Best of luck with your blog and your projects.

I agree with you that blogging has greatly enriched my life and helped me to find things out about myself. 77. This is a wonderful first giveaway. Thank you for putting this together. My favorite "craft" book is the last one I acquired. Sewing Bits & Pieces 35 Projects Using Fabric Scraps by Sandi Henderson. First, I am a scrapaholic. Second, making something with those scraps fits my "it must be useful" personality. And, third, this book has really cute, fun projects that I want to make.

CONGRATS! It could not have happened to a nicer or more artistic person! I really enjoy the PBS Swappers you started as well as catchng up with you on your blog! I love any book by Making Memories. But my most favorite is Scrapbook Page Maps by Becky Fleck. I am always scraplifting from her. She has a new one coming out in Oct 2010, can hardly wait.

  80. Congratulations Sherry! I am a "follower!" My favorite craft book is Bend the Rules Sewing by Amy Karol. After reading this book, I discovered new things about sewing, well, specifically, fabrics...like dying, painting on them, etc. Really cool stuff! Plus, Amy writes and explains techniques easily..she doesn't complicate things!
Please count me in on your giveaway!
Oh, thanks again for stopping by my blog! I hope you come back soon!
